Masai Mara, Kenya Safari - October 27-November 9, 2019.

The "Bucket List" African Safari Adventure...Who's In?

In October, 2019 Greg from HW Photo & Safaris is taking another group of safari guests to Kenya. We call it the "Bucket List African Safari Adventure". Whether it be having breakfast with Rothschild giraffes at Giraffe Manor, watching elephants walk by your tent or floating 60 feet above the Mara river in a hot air balloon (hot air balloon rides are optional and an extra cost), all of these activities are truly "bucket list" events.

Most flights will come in around 9-10p.m. so we'll stay our first night at Four Points by Sheraton near the airport. After flying to Africa we just need some place close, clean and quiet.

Ololo Safari Lodge is located on 20 acres on the south edge of Nairobi National Park. Only half an hour's drive from Four Points we will already be in Nairobi National Park at our first safari lodge. There we will recover from the international travel. For the early risers, the next morning we will have the opportunity to go on our first official game drive in the park. This will give us the chance to scrape the rust off our photography skills.

After a day of safari drives at Nairobi National Park we will fly out to the Masai Mara National Park the next morning and spend ten days (Staying 5 days at two different 5 star safari lodges) in the Masai Mara.

Meet Blossom at Little Governors' Camp. You are very likely to see Blossom and or Possum (two huge elephant bulls) and several other ellies while at LIttle Governors' Camp. They have been wandering through the camp for the past thirty-plus years. I can't see them changing their ways any time soon.

The second camp is located in great leopard and cheetah territory. The area is very densely populated with massive herds of zebras.

Little Governors Camp Tent

Little Governors' Camp- Little Governors' Camp is located in the Northern area of the Masai Mara National Reserve. The area is home of the famous Marsh Pride of lions. This area also has huge numbers of elephants. It is common to see between 100-500 elephants in the Marsh area just a few minutes away from camp.

A hot air balloon flight is optional at an additional cost and another fantastic experience that Little Governors' has to offer. People come from miles away to go up in a hot air balloon and float over the Mara river. We just have to get up and take the short walk behind the kitchen as the balloon rides depart from our camp.

This video was taken through the screen of our tent while in camp. Who needs to go on safari when a herd of elephants are 20 feet from your tent.

While in the Mara for those who are interested we will be visiting Loigero Primary School after a game drive. We deliver supplies to their school every trip. No one has to particiapte, but for those who do it is a great experience.

After ten days in the Masai Mara we will fly back to Nairobi where we will stay the day at Girafe Manor & enjoy a private tour of the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (Elephant Sanctuary)

After our private tour of the elephant sanctuary we will return to the Giraffe Manor for tea where we will have the chance to interact with the giraffes. Dinner is at 8p.m. The next morning we will enjoy breakfast with the giraffes, Giraffe Manor style.

Giraffe Manor.

On November 9th, After we check out from Giraffe Manor we'll go to Mat Bronze for a visit to their gallery and have lunch. After lunch we will visit a wood sculpturing gallery and store, Kazuri Beads and an open air market for some beautiful souvenirs. From there we will go to the Four Points Sheraton where we will check in to a day room to freshen up, re-pack if necessary and have a farewell dinner. Then it is a five minute drive to the Nairobi International Airport for our flights out at 11p.m. to 12:30a.m. on the next day.

Details, Details, Details...

We will have 12 people in our group. That gives us the leverage we need so the camps love our buiness. It also gives us the non-photographer vs photographer ratio that we need. Four non-photographers per vehicle or three photographers per vehicle. Each non-photographer gets his or her own window seat. Each photographer gets his or her own row so he or she can photograph out of both sides of the vehicle.

While at Zebra Plains we will be visiting a village and Loigero primary school. For those who are interested we will be donating much needed clothing, blankets, school and basic living supplies to this school.
